Saga, where afterwards, Vegeta’s lines are those of the original in-house dub that aired on Toonami in the early 2000s. However, this redubbing only lasts until the end of the Garlic Jr. In the remastered version, Sabat's lines are re-recorded to be consistent with his recognized Vegeta voice. Over the next few episodes this slowly wanes until Vegeta's voice becomes much deeper in pitch.

The first song I heard was actually Bored and I didn’t like it – it was too simple, too stonery and slow. Root by Deftones is very different stylistically to what I was drawn to growing up, but I discovered them through the Limp Bikit/Korn connection. They were a big part of how Bullet’s sound became what it did.” Trying to bring heavy metal kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.Īlive Or Just Breathing was huge for me – as much of a connection as I’d had with Korn or Metallica, there was something more relatable about Killswitch for me in terms of who they were, where they came from and the kind of music that had inspired them. We weren’t necessarily the same stylistically, but what they were trying to do was what we wanted to as well – a modern, aggressive twist on classic heavy metal songs with aggressive riffs, massive choruses and loads of riffs, just like you’d hear on Last Serenade. “Killswitch Engage’s Alive Or Just Breathing was just becoming really popular right as Bullet For My Valentine were first becoming a thing. Killswitch Engage – Alive Or Just Breathing (2002) They had these shredding solos, but that song is a highlight for me.”ħ. The whole album is iconic and very down-tempo, there’s no real moments of speed but Holier Than Thou is the one track that really takes it back to what they’d been doing on …And Justice For All and the previous stuff. “ Metallica's Black Album is the ultimate reason why I’m in a band. It was so dangerous and raw, but for a 14-year old me I couldn’t understand it and it wasn’t until I got older and grew with the band that I realised just how amazing that album is. That whole down-tuned seven-string guitar thing with these insane vocals where Jonathan Davis is basically breaking down in the booth. They weren’t supposed to make it and nobody handed them anything, but they were the sound of a generation. It reminded me of me and the boys, just friends trying to make the music they love. I didn’t understand what it was they were trying to do and then as I listened to it more and saw the videos they were putting out where you’d see the band on tour and behind the scenes. “I remember hearing Korn's Daddy on their debut album for the first time and I didn’t get it at all. It was something instilled in me from a very early age and I dedicated my life to it until 2002, 2003 when people started properly sniffing around the band and then we got an EP out and the rest is history.” It’s ‘orrible, in the best possible way.Īs soon as I got into music and into heavy metal, the journey of discovery let me know that’s what I wanted to do – I wanted to be on-stage, screaming my head off and playing guitar. Like, ‘what the fuck is this band?’ Everything else I listened to was more polished and traditional, so having something like Scissors really changed how I felt about metal. Slipknot’s debut album is a great example it’s very raw, visceral and intense and as soon as I heard it, it was like a punch in the face. “I really love that whole mid-90s, early 2000s era of metal where the production is not polished and not pretty. They actually took the shine off Korn for me at the time – how could anyone follow that?” It was party vibes, but heavy metal – not like the bands you’d get at the time at all. The show was phenomenal, I was finally able to go to shows on my own with my mates and we had no idea who they were, but two or three songs in they played Counterfeit and it was like ‘this is so fucking cool’. It was less serious but just as heavy and intense. It’s almost punk rock with how dirty it is, but they were also very different there’s a lot of groove and they had Fred Durst, who did a lot more rapping on it. There’s something about that when bands aren’t trying to sound clean or popular, they’re just doing what they do and that whole Ross Robinson era of nu metal bands just captured my imagination. At that point they were new and not as commercial or poppy as they’d later be so that album is a lot more like Roots in terms of being dirty and heavy. “I discovered Limp Bizkit around the time Three Dollar Bill Y’all came out, they were supporting Korn at the Newport Centre. Limp Bizkit – Three Dollar Bill Y’All (1997) Not the most extensive selection of colors, but all three share the same sharp and modern aesthetic you get from Aer. If black’s not your thing and you’re looking for something easier to see in the dark, there are two other colorways to choose from: Olive and Gray. Regardless, we had no complaints about the looks of the Fit Pack 2, and we don’t have any gripes with Fit Pack 3’s either. There are functional differences, although aesthetically, the most notable is the addition of the external water bottle pockets. Side by side, it will probably take you a minute or two to tell which is which just by looking. In this iteration of the Fit pack, the design doesn’t stray away from the previous one. Much like other Aer bags, the Fit Pack 3 carries on with the signature style they do so well: discreet black. We’ll be diving more into the details, so let’s get to it.Įditor’s note: check out our detailed comparison video on the Aer Fit Pack 3 and the Aer Fit Pack 2. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, but it does feature water bottle pockets, unlike its predecessor. It acts as a hybrid between a daypack and a duffle bag, with a separate compartment for your shoes and gym clothes. The thought of bringing two bags is probably the practical solution, but Aer has a two-in-one answer: the Fit Pack 3. But where do you put all your gym clothes? Aer Fit Pack 3 | Taking the bag to the gym And no, we’re not talking about the afternoon jog to catch the train or the bus we’re talking about hitting the gym straight after work. We all have our ways of relaxing after work, and some of us choose to do it with a good and exciting workout to release our stress healthily. Just like the Nikon Z 7, Canon has controversially plumped for just one here – and what’s potentially worse (in terms of speed and robustness), it’s an SD card slot. If there’s one thing we’ll take away from this year’s launches – it’s just how passionate people are about having a second memory card slot. Other cameras in this category use a tilting screen, which is arguably quicker for some shots – but precludes awkward portrait format shooting, so it’s very much swings and roundabouts. The screen is also fully articulated, making it useful for videographers, as well as composing images from awkward angles. It works best if you set the “Touch and Drag” active touch area to not cover the whole screen – otherwise your nose is prone to accidentally change the point, not something you want when photographing a fast moving subject. You can even use it when shooting through the viewfinder to set your AF point, which is very handy. Speaking of touch-sensitivity, the EOS R’s screen is very capable. To get around this, you can set a lock which requires a long press of the left hand side of the bar first to get it going.Ī joystick may have been a better use of this space, perhaps. For me, it falls extremely close to where my thumb rests – having it control ISO means that on several occasions I inadvertently altered the ISO when I didn’t want to. It’s a great idea in theory, giving you the option to control various settings, but again there’s a placement issue. There’s a couple of customisable buttons, while the Q button gets you quick access to all of your oft-used settings.Ī new feature for the EOS R is the touch-sensitive M-Fn Bar. Otherwise, the dials and buttons are smattered across the body, with the vast majority being on the right hand side. That’s especially true for a mirrorless camera where battery conservation is key. Making the decision to place the on/off dial (we say dial because it’s round, but it only has two positions, so it’s more like a switch) on the left hand side of the camera body is a bit of an odd choice for quickly turning the camera and on off. Retaining a fairly chunky grip is a good idea, and makes the EOS R feel balanced when using it with larger lenses. Instead, the body design feels a bit like one of Canon’s mid or entry-level DSLRs, such as the 80D. The main difference being the reduction in size, especially when compared to one of Canon’s full-frame DSLRs, such as the popular 5D series. The Canon EOS R looks and feels like one of Canon’s DSLRs – no surprises there, as Canon was probably never going to stray too far off the beaten path. Club owners and their staff would often ignore their requests for everything from water in the dressing room to sound checks. Male bands and their crews often weren’t much better. “And you’re just like, ‘What’s happening?’” she says. And then behind them, you have these (bleeping) pig men who are trying to kill you and yelling, ‘Show us your (bodies)! Shut up and play!’ and throwing stuff at you. “Because on the one hand, you’ve got three rows of girls singing every word like they wrote it themselves. “It was a very weird band to be in,” Hanna says. “And you’re with these people who were like, ‘Oh, yeah, that really happened.’”ĭuring its first run, Bikini Kill often played shows where the audiences were split between the young women who loved them for their feminist lyrics and hard-edged punk music, and men who taunted them for the same things. “Just like weird things, the memories that you have, where you’re like, ‘Did that really happen?’” she says. “And they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, that was in Sweden.’ “You’re able to go, ‘Do you remember that time that I got pulled off the stage by my ankles? Where was that?’” Hanna says. Now, though, they realized that only they could fully appreciate what it had been like in the tour vans and grungy punk clubs of Bikini Kill’s youth. We went through so much together, and while it was happening, we weren’t really able to talk about it to each other.” “And all kind of things that were dramas and personality impediments, they just kind of seemed to drop away, and our shared history stood in front of them,” she says. “It felt different, it felt better,” Hanna says of the Raincoats event, for which they played the Bikini Kill song “For Tammy Rae.” “It felt like we’d grown up, in a cool way, not in a way of like, ‘We don’t care about anything new.’ (Erica Dawn Lyle is the band’s current guitarist.) The band, minus founding guitarist Billy Karren, had fun that night, Hanna says, maybe more than they’d had in the ’90s when touring for a feminist punk band wasn’t always much fun at all. “I was like, ‘If this gets me into the show for free, let’s do it.’” “But then I was like, ‘It’s the (bleeping) Raincoats,’ and I’m going to get to see the Raincoats. “I was just kind of like, ‘It feels weird,’” Hanna says. It was all the way across the country, and it had been so long since Bikini Kill had done anything. “And then Kathi – I’m sure it was Kathi, because she’s like the secret, stealth, make-things-happen person – was just like, ‘Hmm, what if we did a Bikini Kill song and asked Kathleen?’”Īnd so they did, though at first, Hanna says she wasn’t sure she wanted to do it. “Tobi has a lot of solo material, so she was going to do one of her songs, and Kathi was going to play with her,” Hanna says. Almost on a whim, they invited Hanna to join them. Hanna says that the writer Jenn Pelly had written a book about the British post-punk band the Raincoats, and Wilcox and Vail had been lined up to perform for the book release party. “And there was a lot of unfinished business in our band.” “Like I just wanted to be with them because it felt really kind of – I mean, this sounds corny – but it felt really healing. “It was almost more about hanging out at first than the music,” Hanna says of the reunion that led to a brief tour, with three nights at the Palladium in Hollywood, in 2019. But she returned home excited to spend more time with these two women. Hanna says she had been ambivalent about doing anything more with Bikini Kill.
